THE BOARD:  The base of the board shall be twenty-four (24) inches above the floor, or the center of the two-base single four (4) feet above the floor.  The tilt of the board shall be eight (8) inches from perpendicular with the base of the board nearer the pitching line.  The pitching distance shall be twenty (20) feet from the base of the board to the front edge of the pitching line.

 

PLAYING REGULATIONS:  Six (6) players shall constitute a team.  When fewer than the required number appear, a fictitious names shall appear in the line-up to bring the total to the required number of players.  A regular player may be substituted for the fictitious player, immediately upon arrival for the game they are joining.  Upon completion of that game, lineup changes may be made for the new game.

 

OFFICIAL STARTING TIME:  League play is 7:30 PM with a grace period of fifteen (15) minutes for the opposing team to appear, after which time the game must start.

 

All darts MUST be thrown UNDERHAND.  Loading of darts is forbidden.

 

Runners shall advance one base on a SINGLE; two bases on TWO-BASE HIT; etc., with the exception of the TWO-BASE SINGLE, which advances all runners two (2) bases and sends the batter to first.

 

On a SACRIFICE hit, all runners advance one base, including a runner on third.  Batter is OUT.  (If no runners on base, batter is OUT anyway.)

 

On a DOUBLE PLAY, batter OUT, plus runner nearest home.  In case there is no runner on base, there is only one (1) OUT on the play.

 

The batter is OUT if his dart fails to hit the board, or hits any other object before hitting the board.  If the body of the dart, other than the point, strikes the edge of the board and glances off, the batter is OUT.

 

If a dart already in the board falls, or is displaced by another dart, the original dart should be replaced in the board.

 

If a thrown dart sticks in the body of another dart, already on the board, the last thrown dart shall be ruled as a DEAD DART.

 

A dart hitting squarely on wire and not adhering to the board, shall be called a DEAD DART.

 

All darts shall be removed from the board, when a player completes his time at bat.  No penalty when a batter drops his dart accidentally.

 

All batters must pitch from behind the pitching line.

 

UMPIRES:  One umpire from each team at the board.  Usually 3rd man out goes to the board.  All umpires shall stand at least two (2) feet from the side of the board, and shall conduct themselves in a quiet manner at all times.  No darts to be removed from the board until both umpires have an opportunity to observe the locations of the darts.

 

All players shall conduct themselves as to Good Manners; Good Sportsmanship; and Total Elimination of comments of a Personal Nature.  Greater respect is to be given to Older Age Players.

 

Wire board and Official Score Sheets are to be used.  Where possible, a Spot-Lighted Board will be used.

 

A player must play in half (½) of all games in League Play to be eligible for Batting and RBI Trophies.

 

No person playing in a Tavern League shall become a member of a church league team, UNLESS, he is affiliated with the CHURCH.  Persons in this category already in the league from previous seasons are not affected.

 

Score Sheets are to be mailed to the League Secretary so as to arrive no later than Friday.

 

Roster of players should be sent to the League Secretary by the middle of November.

 

LEAGUE FEES for each team is $25.00.  These fees are due and payable during the first half of the season.  The League Secretary is permitted $8.00 per year for expenses.

 

All games not played as scheduled, due to EXTREME OR HAZARDOUS WEATHER conditions, may be made up and will count in the standings.  HOWEVER, GAMES NOT PLAYED AS SCHEDULED DUE TO ANY OTHER REASON WILL BE FORFEITED BY THE OFFENDING TEAM, and the TEAM PRESENT for the match will receive credits for three (3) points.

 

League play shall consist of two halves.  Winner of each half will play-off at the end of the season.

 

In case of a tie in either the first half, or second half, playoffs will be held immediately after conclusion of first or second half.

 

All teams in the league shall participate in TOURNAMENT PLAY.

 

Trophies will be given to First & Second in League & Tournament Action, and individually to First, Second, and Third in Batting and RBI competition during League Play.
